The AUV product line known as GAVIA was designed in 1997, the first was produced in 2000 and sold in small numbers to the scientific sector in Iceland.
Through subsequent years a new version of Gavia was designed and clients in the Defence sector purchased a number of systems for evaluation and operations in the defence business - a number of Navy clients worldwide are owners of Gavia AUV technology.
The offshore O&G sector is where there is increasinly significant expansion of the new design version of Gavia . Gavia has operations experience in the Defence sector also but has more application in the marine offshore O&G and Scientific sectors.
Hydro Products Ltd acts as the UK & Ireland Representative and point of contact for Gavia AUV systems designed and manufactured by:
Hafmynd ehf of Reykjavik, Iceland (original Company name) now a subsidiary Company of Teledyne Technologies Inc and known as Teledyne Gavia www.gavia.is
Gavia AUV technology is now being accepted in the offshore survey and inspection sector as high operations costs are evident......we know that Oil companies are focusing on cost reductions wherever possible in operations, Gavia can allow dual operations to be considered in some operational scenario's which may be attractive to Gavia clients performing survey operations , for example ... ... an ROV may be performing close inspections on a pipeline with the mother vessel overhead...the Gavia might be sent along a pipeline in the vicinity to perform a survey routine and planned to be recovered at some later time by the ROV...such an approach could potentially result in significant cost savings for the client.
Hydro Products has a number of data and picture shots of the Gavia AUV in operation and we are pleased to provide further information as may be required...please contact us on info@hydro-products.co.uk in the first instance...
